i am not sure this is useful, but i have had the same problem.
It occurred when unpacking with WinRar.
Unpacking with Winzip 'solved' the problem.
I never encountered any difference between both tools. Would they be
converting carriage returns themselves or something ?
Paul, which unpacker are you using ?
